Viral Markets
What are Viral Markets, and how do they differ from prediction markets?
Viral Markets are fast-paced, parimutuel betting pools where you wager on binary questions (e.g., “Dog vs. Cat”), with outcomes determined randomly by Chainlink VRF and revealed through AI-generated video clips. Unlike prediction markets, Viral Markets don’t involve trading shares, odds are revealed only when the pool closes, and the process is simpler: pick a side, bet, and wait for the result. See Viral Markets 101.
How are Viral Markets outcomes determined?
Outcomes are selected using Chainlink VRF, a secure random number generator, ensuring fair and transparent results. A random AI-generated video clip plays to announce the winner (e.g., a Dog video if Dog wins).
What happens if only one side of a Viral Market gets bets?
If only one outcome (e.g., Dog) has bets, the smart contract automatically refunds all bettors in full, with no house fee (rake) applied. You can claim your refund via the “My Bets” page or the market page.
Can I trade or sell my bets in Viral Markets?
No, unlike prediction markets, Viral Markets bets are fixed and cannot be traded or sold before the market closes. You place your bet and wait for the outcome.
How long do Viral Markets last?
Viral Markets run in short cycles, typically 10–60 minutes, depending on the market. A countdown timer on the market page shows when betting closes.
What is the house fee (rake) in Viral Markets?
A configurable house fee, or rake (e.g., 10%), is deducted from the total pool before winnings are distributed to those who bet on the winning outcome. No fees are applied when claiming winnings or refunds.
Can I share the outcome videos?
Yes! The AI-generated video clips are designed to be fun and shareable. You can post them on social media to show off your wins or enjoy the quirky outcomes.
